My Dog Is My Home

Share Stories. Share Data. Change Systems. Change Lives.

What do we do?

MDIMH exists to keep individuals experiencing homelessness and their pets together. For these families, home means more than a roof over their heads. We understand the power of the human-animal connection, and we believe that all shelters in  every city should open their doors to people and their pets. .

How do we do it?

Share Stories. Through multimedia exhibitions, we provide a platform for individuals experiencing homeless to tell their stories and raise awareness of the challenges that they face in finding housing with a companion animal.

Share Data. My Dog is My Home is the only organization that captures and disseminates original data to shed light on the unique barriers to housing that people experiencing homelessness with companion animals face.

Change Systems. My Dog is My Home informs public policy and best practices in co-sheltering through technical assistance in shelters and advocacy in local governments across the country.

Change Lives. Through our work, we make sure people experiencing homelessness with companion animals never have to choose between housing and family.

My Dog Is My Home is a national organization dedicated to preserving the human-animal bond in circumstances of homelessness.
